Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome back to a new school year at Anna L. Klein School!

I hope you and your families had a wonderful and relaxing summer. As we prepare to welcome our students back, I am filled with excitement and anticipation for all that the 2026–2027 school year will bring. Our school community is built on the belief that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and reach their fullest potential, and I look forward to working together with our students, staff, and families to make this a successful year.

This year, our district will be focusing on “Back to Basics.” While technology has become an important and valuable part of education, we also recognize the importance of returning to the foundational skills that help students become strong learners, thinkers, communicators, and problem-solvers.

As part of our Back to Basics initiative, students will participate in non-technology days throughout the school year. These days will provide students with an opportunity to step away from screens and digital devices and return to some of the simple, traditional tools of learning such as, a pencil, a piece of paper, a book, and their own imagination.

There is something powerful about putting pencil to paper. Writing by hand encourages students to slow down, organize their thoughts, express their ideas, and develop their creativity. These activities will give our students opportunities to write, draw, brainstorm, solve problems, read, collaborate, and engage in meaningful learning without relying on technology.

Our goal is not to eliminate technology, but rather to create a healthy balance between technology and the essential skills students need to be successful. We want our students to be comfortable using the latest tools while also being confident in their ability to think independently, communicate effectively, create, and solve problems using the fundamentals of learning.

Throughout the year, we will continue to strengthen the basics of reading, writing, mathematics, critical thinking, communication, and creativity. We will also continue to provide opportunities for students to explore, question, collaborate, and develop a genuine love of learning.

As Superintendent, I am incredibly excited about the year ahead. Our students are at the heart of everything we do, and I am proud of the dedication and commitment of our teachers, administrators, and staff. I also recognize the important role our families play in supporting our children's success. When our school and families work together, our students benefit.

Thank you for entrusting us with your children each day. I look forward to seeing our hallways filled with the energy, curiosity, laughter, and excitement that make our school community so special.

Dear Students, Parents and Guardians:

 

It is with great excitement that I write this letter to you because this means……….

 

We are set to begin another fun and exciting school year at Anna L. Klein!

Welcome back! I hope this summer brought you moments of rest, adventure, and time spent with families and friends.  Whether you traveled somewhere new, picked up a new hobby, or simply enjoyed slower mornings at home, I hope you return to us refreshed and ready for an exciting new school year.

There is a special energy that fills our hallways in these first days back — the sound of lockers clicking shut, friends catching up on summer stories, and teachers putting the finishing touches on classrooms designed to inspire.  It's one of my favorite times of year, and I'm so glad to share it with all of you.

This year, we have a lot to look forward to. Our teachers and staff have spent the summer preparing engaging lessons, new programs, and thoughtful improvements to our school community.  We remain committed to providing a safe, supportive, and challenging environment where every student can grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

With each passing school year, with your steadfast cooperation and support, we have been able to continue our road to academic excellence, to provide your children with the education that you have come to expect from Anna L. Klein School.  We are pleased to welcome back all our students grades pre-k through eighth grade and are very much looking forward to beginning this journey that will be known as the Anna L. Klein School 2026-2027 school year!

  

I have been dedicated to the field of education for twenty-five years, first as the physical education teacher here at Anna L. Klein School, then as an Instructional Supervisor for three years, and currently and most proudly as your principal beginning my 11^th year. 

 

Along with teachers and staff, I will continue to work hard to continue the legacy of success established at Anna L. Klein by building strong relationships with parents, students, and community partners.  To our returning students — welcome back! To any new students and families joining our community — a warm and heartfelt welcome.  

  

Please take note of student dismissal times.  Students in grades kindergarten through 3^rd grade are dismissed at 3:00 p.m. and students in grades 4^th through 8^th grade are dismissed at 3:05 p.m.  Dismissal for all students on one-session days is at 12:39 p.m.  We always kindly ask that our parents and/or day cares for grades kindergarten through 3^rd grade are on time when picking up your children.  

 

Our morning line up will be outside at 8:20 a.m.  For the first two days of school, signs will be posted with the teacher’s names on them for grades kindergarten to fourth.  Grades fifth through eighth will come right into school and go directly to their classroom.  School personnel will be in the halls to assist our middle school students.  On the first two days of school our entire staff will greet students at 8:20 a.m.  The following areas for arrival and dismissal will be:

·   Pre-Kindergarten                  Back door by faculty parking lot

·   Kindergarten           Back basketball court next to faculty parking lot 

·   Grade 1                   Faculty parking lot

·   Grade 2                     Faculty parking lot

·   Grade 3                    Line up on 69^th Street nearest to Hudson Avenue

·   Grade 4                     Hudson Avenue Gym Door

·   Grades 5, 6, 7, & 8               Front Entrance of New Building, Hudson Avenue

After the first two days of school, students will no longer line up outside as they will come directly into the school building at 8:20 am and line up outside their classrooms.  

              

The first day of school for all students is Thursday, September 10, 2026.  Both Thursday, September 10^th and Friday, September 11^th are one session days for students.  Just as a reminder, we do not provide lunch for students on one-session days.  On all one-session days, please provide your child with a snack.   

 

All of us at the Anna L. Klein School are eager and excited to begin what promises to be a great school year, as we continue to provide academic experiences for our students that are rigorous, relevant and build relationships.  As your principal, it is important to me that everyone who steps through our doors—teachers, students, and parents—are excited to be here!  This attitude enables us to meet the challenges of academic excellence in a positive, fun, and nurturing environment.  My door is always open, and I welcome your input.  Please feel free to call or email me to discuss any concerns, suggestions, or ideas to help make this the best year yet!

Estimados estudiantes, padres y guardianes:

Es con gran entusiasmo que les escribo esta carta porque esto significa………

¡Estamos listos para comenzar otro año escolar divertido y emocionante en la Escuela Anna L. Klein!

¡Bienvenidos de nuevo! Espero que este verano les haya brindado momentos de descanso, aventura y tiempo compartido con familiares y amigos. Ya sea que hayan viajado a algún lugar nuevo, descubierto un nuevo pasatiempo o simplemente disfrutado de mañanas tranquilas en casa, espero que regresen renovados y listos para un nuevo y emocionante año escolar. 

Hay una energía especial que llena nuestros pasillos en estos primeros días de regreso — el sonido de los casilleros cerrándose, amigos poniéndose al día con las historias del verano y maestros dando los últimos toques a los salones diseñados para inspirar. Es una de mis épocas favoritas del año, y me alegra compartirla con todos ustedes. 

Este año tenemos mucho que esperar. Nuestros maestros y personal han dedicado el verano preparando lecciones interesantes, nuevos programas y mejoras significativas para nuestra comunidad escolar. Mantenemos nuestro compromiso de brindar un ambiente seguro, solidario y estimulante donde cada estudiante pueda crecer académicamente, socialmente y emocionalmente. 

Con cada año escolar, gracias a su constante cooperación y apoyo, hemos podido continuar nuestro camino hacia la excelencia académica brindando a sus hijos la educación que ustedes esperan de la Escuela Anna L. Klein. Nos complace dar la bienvenida nuevamente a todos nuestros estudiantes desde preescolar hasta octavo grado, y esperamos con entusiasmo comenzar este recorrido que será conocido como el año escolar 2026–2027 de la Escuela Anna L. Klein. 

He estado dedicado al campo de la educación durante veinticinco años, primero como profesor de educación física aquí en la Escuela Anna L. Klein, luego como Supervisor de Instrucción durante tres años, y actualmente —y con gran orgullo— como su director, comenzando mi undécimo año. 

Junto con los maestros y el personal, continuaré trabajando arduamente para mantener el legado de éxito establecido en Anna L. Klein, construyendo relaciones sólidas con padres, estudiantes y miembros de la comunidad. A nuestros estudiantes que regresan — ¡bienvenidos nuevamente! A los nuevos estudiantes y familias que se unen a nuestra comunidad — les damos una cálida y afectuosa bienvenida. 

Por favor, tomen nota de los horarios de salida de los estudiantes. Los estudiantes de kinder a 3er grado salen a las 3:00 p.m., y los estudiantes de 4to a 8vo grado salen a las 3:05 p.m. En los días de una sola sesión, la salida de todos los estudiantes es a las 12:39 p.m. Siempre pedimos amablemente que los padres y/o guarderías de los estudiantes de kindergarten a 3er grado lleguen puntualmente a recoger a sus hijos. 

Nuestra formación matutina será afuera a las 8:20 a.m. Durante los dos primeros días de clases, se colocarán letreros con los nombres de los maestros para los grados de kindergarten a cuarto grado. Los alumnos de quinto a octavo grado entrarán directamente al edificio y se dirigirán a su salón de clase. El personal escolar estará en los pasillos para ayudar a nuestros estudiantes de secundaria. En los primeros dos días de clases, todo nuestro personal recibirá a los estudiantes a las 8:20 a.m. 

Las siguientes áreas serán utilizadas para la llegada y salida:

·         Kinder                   Atrás en la cancha de baloncesto, junto al estacionamiento

·          Grado 4                    Puerta del gimnasio en la avenida Hudson

·          Grados 5, 6, 7 y 8   Entrada principal del nuevo edificio, avenida Hudson

Después de los primeros dos días de clases, los estudiantes ya no tendrán que hacer fila afuera, entrarán directamente al edificio a las 8:20 a.m. y se formarán afuera de sus salones de clase. 

El primer día de clases para todos los estudiantes es el jueves, 10 de septiembre de 2026. Tanto el jueves 10 como el viernes 11 de septiembre serán días de una sola sesión para los estudiantes. Le recordamos que no ofrecemos almuerzo en días de una sesión. En los días de una sesión,  le pedimos que por favor envíen a sus hijos con un refrigerio. 

En la Escuela Anna L. Klein, todos estamos ansiosos y entusiasmados por comenzar lo que promete ser un excelente año escolar, mientras continuamos brindando a nuestros estudiantes experiencias académicas rigurosas, relevantes y que fomentan relaciones. Como su director, es importante para mí que todos los que entren por nuestras puertas — maestros, estudiantes y padres — estén emocionados de estar aquí. Esta actitud nos permite afrontar los desafíos de la excelencia académica en un ambiente positivo, divertido y enriquecedor. Mi puerta siempre está abierta, y valoro sus comentarios. No duden en llamarme o enviarme un correo electrónico para compartir cualquier inquietud, sugerencia o idea que ayude a hacer de este el mejor año hasta ahora. 

¡Me siento verdaderamente afortunado de ser el director de una comunidad escolar tan increíble!
